Considering the extreme dangers imposed on high rise workers, safety is the single most important asset to both, our success, and your success.  Aside from the obvious, where we don't want to see anyone hurt or killed, there is also a liability issue.  The maximum fine that can be imposed in Ontario is  $1,000,000 and 2 years in prison.

So who gets the fine?

Nobody is immune to this fine.  This fine can be imposed on the worker, the supervisor, the contractor, the building manager, and the building owners.  We certainly don't want to share a jail cell with our clients.

Skyline started operations on July 10, 1984.  It was a different time back then.  Safety was not on the minds of clients, contractors and even the government.  We recognized this lack of safety and safety enforcement early on.  Where everyone was rushing to put in the lowest bid, we stayed the course and held our prices higher to maintain safety.  The struggle was enormous and the sacrifices were many, but we persevered. 

Times have changed and the high rise industry is much safer now.  But let's not forget, this type of work still remains extremely dangerous.  We have a saying in the business, "With any job you can make a mistake.  The only difference between your job and ours, is that you live to make another one.  We don't."
